President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will on Thursday, June 27, 2025, sign into law four landmark tax reform bills aimed at overhauling Nigeria’s fiscal and revenue administration system.

The development was announced by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, in a statement titled “President Tinubu signs four tax bills into law tomorrow.”

The bills set for presidential assent are the Nigeria Tax Bill, Nigeria Tax Administration Bill, Nigeria Revenue Service (Establishment) Bill, and the Joint Revenue Board (Establishment) Bill.

According to Onanuga, the new tax laws are expected to significantly transform the tax landscape by improving revenue generation, enhancing the business environment, and attracting both domestic and foreign investment.

“The Nigeria Tax Bill, in particular, seeks to harmonise Nigeria’s currently fragmented tax laws into a single, streamlined statute,” the statement read. “By eliminating the multiplicity of taxes and reducing compliance burdens, the bill will enhance ease of doing business and create a more predictable fiscal environment.”

The official signing ceremony will be attended by key political and economic stakeholders, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, Senate and House Majority Leaders, and the chairmen of the finance committees in both chambers.

Also expected at the event are Governors Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq (Kwara) and Hope Uzodinma (Imo), Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy Wale Edun, and the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi.

The signing of the tax reform bills marks a major milestone in the Tinubu administration’s broader economic reform agenda focused on fiscal sustainability, accountability, and business competitiveness.
