Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) were actively deployed on Saturday to monitor the conduct of the local government elections across Lagos State.

Personnel from the Lagos Directorates 1 and 2 of the anti-graft agency were seen at various polling units, working in collaboration with other security agencies to enforce compliance with electoral laws and clamp down on vote buying.

The operation was led by the Chief of Staff to the EFCC Chairman, CE Michael Nzekwe, and the Acting Director of Lagos Directorate 2, ACE I. Ahmed Ghali.

The EFCC teams monitored polling activities in key areas across the state, ensuring transparency and accountability at the grassroots level.

The Commission said the deployment underscores its commitment to curbing electoral fraud and enhancing public confidence in Nigeria’s democratic process.

Reports from the field described the exercise as largely peaceful, with voters and other security agencies acknowledging the EFCC’s visible presence and collaborative efforts in maintaining order.

The EFCC’s intervention is part of a broader strategy to prevent electoral malpractices, particularly vote buying, which has undermined previous elections.
