TWO SISTERS, BOTH SECURITY OPERATIVES, ARRESTED FOR ALLEGED KIDNAP OF THEIR BROTHER IN ENUGU

The Enugu State Police Command has arrested two sisters, both serving in Nigerian security agencies, for allegedly masterminding the kidnapping of their elder brother, Mr. Friday Chukwu.
The suspects, Juliet Chukwu, an operative of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and Ngozi Nancy Chukwu, a personnel of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), were apprehended after investigations linked them to the abduction, which occurred last month along the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway near the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Ituku-Ozalla.
Mr. Chukwu, who hails from Amaeze village in Ishiagu, Ivo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, was reportedly released after a N30 million ransom was paid a sum believed to have been facilitated through the sisters’ manipulation.
Further implicating the duo, they were also linked to the abduction of Engr. Dennis Igwe, the General Manager of China Oriental Mining Company, who was kidnapped on Monday, July 14, along the same route. The suspects were arrested in a hotel where they had allegedly gathered to share a N10 million ransom paid for Igwe’s release.
Social media activist, Comrade Chika Nwoba, who shared the development online, urged security agencies not to treat the matter lightly, highlighting past allegations against the sisters, including involvement in rail vandalism, pipeline sabotage, and collusion with criminal elements in Ishiagu.
Chairman of Ivo Local Government Area, Chief Emmanuel Ajah, confirmed the arrests, noting that while the crimes occurred outside his jurisdiction, he had written to both the Enugu Police Command and the Ebonyi NSCDC to ensure full investigation and prosecution. He disclosed that four other suspects in the criminal network remain at large.
Attempts to reach the Ebonyi State Police Command for further comment were unsuccessful as Police Public Relations Officer, SP Joshua Ukandu, had not responded as of the time of filing this report.
Authorities are intensifying efforts to apprehend the remaining suspects, while calls mount for disciplinary action from the NSCDC and NIS against the arrested officers.
