[BREAKING] EID-UL-MAULUD: FG ANNOUNCES FRIDAY PUBLIC HOLIDAY

The Federal Government has proclaimed Friday, September 5, 2025, as a public holiday to commemorate Eid-ul-Mawlid, the birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.
This announcement was conveyed in a statement released by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, on Tuesday in Abuja.
Per the statement, the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who made the proclamation on behalf of the Federal Government, extended heartfelt greetings to Muslims in Nigeria and around the globe.
He urged the Muslim community to emulate the Prophet’s principles of peace, love, humility, tolerance, and compassion, emphasizing that these ideals are essential for fostering a united and progressive nation.

The minister also encouraged Nigerians of all beliefs to utilize this occasion to pray for the peace, security, and stability of the nation while supporting governmental initiatives aimed at national cohesion and sustainable development.
“The observance of Eid-ul-Mawlid presents us with another chance to strengthen the ties of brotherhood, advocate for peaceful coexistence, and embrace the Prophet’s teachings of mutual respect and selfless service to humanity,” the statement quoted Tunji-Ojo as stating.
He additionally urged citizens to remain law-abiding, vigilant regarding security, and supportive of government policies designed to enhance the welfare of all Nigerians, while wishing Muslims a joyful and peaceful Eid-ul-Mawlid celebration.
