TINUBU ORDERS SECURITY AGENCIES TO QUICKLY FISH OUT KILLERS OF ARISE NEWS ANCHOR

President Bola Tinubu has instructed security and law enforcement agencies to promptly carry out a comprehensive investigation into the demise of Arise News anchor Ms. Somtochukwu ‘Sommie’ Maduagwu and ensure that those responsible are apprehended and brought to justice expeditiously.

The President expressed profound sorrow upon receiving the news of Ms. Maduagwu’s tragic passing, a result of an attack by assailants at her residence in Katampe, Abuja.

He conveyed his heartfelt sympathies to the family of Ms. Maduagwu, the management and staff of Arise News Television, as well as the broader Nigerian media community during this distressing time.

President Tinubu, through a statement issued by his spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, was quoted as stating: “Ms. Maduagwu was a talented journalist whose life was abruptly ended in a cruel and reprehensible manner. ”

“Security and law enforcement agencies must undertake a rapid and thorough inquiry into the incident and ensure that the culprits are apprehended and brought to justice without delay. ”

While expressing his condolences to the grieving family, President Tinubu assured Nigerians that his administration remains dedicated to safeguarding the safety and security of all citizens and will continue to enhance measures aimed at combating crime in all its manifestations.

In a related matter, the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has described the passing of Maduagwu as tragic and regrettable.

The President’s wife, in a statement she personally endorsed, stated:

“I woke up to the sad news of the unfortunate and untimely death of one of our young and brilliant minds in the journalism profession, Somtochukwu Maduagwu.

Her death is painful and quite unfortunate.

She has been cut down in her prime. I condole with the chairman arise news media, Chief Nduka Obaigbena, her family, friends colleagues, and loved ones. It is my hope and prayer that the perpetrators will be apprehended as soon as possible and brought to book.

May her soul rest in peace, and may God give her family, and all her dear ones the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.”
