The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has withdrawn a corps member, Oyaje Daniel, from his Place of Primary Assignment (PPA) at Judeen International School, Annex Section, Mando, following a viral social media comment he made about teenage female students.

Daniel, who is serving in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, was promptly summoned before the NYSC State Disciplinary Committee. He appeared at the sitting alongside his CDS President.

The Alumni President of Daniel’s college, Comrade Philip Ayuba Bobai, and activist John Adesogan also accompanied him to the NYSC Secretariat for further engagement with officials.

According to those present, Daniel appeared “sober and remorseful,” and was visibly distressed by the scrutiny surrounding his actions.

The NYSC has already taken disciplinary measures pending the conclusion of its investigation. Daniel has been removed from his PPA at Judeen International School and redeployed to the NYSC Headquarters in Kaduna for the remainder of his service year, where he will be placed under strict supervision. Although accommodation is available at the headquarters, he will not be permitted to use it and must report to the office daily.

An investigative panel has also been dispatched to his former PPA to ascertain whether any misconduct occurred beyond the online comment. Any evidence of further wrongdoing will be forwarded to the appropriate authorities.

Additionally, the NYSC is monitoring other corps members who made similar inappropriate remarks under the viral post, noting that they will face disciplinary actions as well.

Officials emphasized that the incident serves as a strong reminder of the consequences of irresponsible social media use. The NYSC reaffirmed its zero-tolerance stance on actions that undermine its values or compromise the safety of the communities it serves.
