The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), has received renowned Nollywood actress and humanitarian, Fathia Williams, at his office in Ikeja, where both parties explored areas of collaboration on girl-child empowerment and the fight against drug abuse.
The courtesy visit followed earlier engagements between the actress and the local government on potential partnerships, particularly around Williams’ humanitarian initiative focused on rescuing vulnerable young girls from the streets, empowering them, and steering them away from drug abuse and other social vices.
Speaking during the visit, Fathia Williams said her vision aligns closely with the recent campaigns launched by the Ikeja Local Government against gender-based violence, rape, and drug abuse, which were rolled out towards the end of 2025. She expressed her willingness to partner with the council to strengthen advocacy, rehabilitation, and empowerment programmes targeted at at-risk girls within Ikeja.
The actress also disclosed that her forthcoming birthday celebration on February 5 would be partly dedicated to advancing these humanitarian causes, with activities planned to promote girl-child protection, empowerment, and social reorientation.

In his response, Chairman AKOD commended Williams for her consistency and passion for social development, particularly in the areas of girl-child empowerment and the campaign against drug abuse. He reaffirmed the readiness of Ikeja Local Government to collaborate with her to ensure the success and sustainability of the initiative.
The chairman stressed that partnerships with credible stakeholders are critical to building a safer, healthier, and more inclusive Ikeja, especially for young people and women.
Both parties expressed optimism at the end of the meeting, pledging to translate their shared vision into impactful programmes that will benefit residents of Ikeja Local Government.
