FCTA WORKERS, NLC PICKET NATIONAL INDUSTRIAL COURT OVER UNRESOLVED LABOUR DISPUTES
Agency Report

Workers of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), backed by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), on Monday picketed the National Industrial Court in Abuja as part of a total and indefinite strike over unresolved labour issues.
The protest followed a directive from the NLC, which threw its weight behind the industrial action, describing it as justified in the face of what it called persistent violations of workers’ rights by the FCTA management and political leadership.
Scores of workers converged on the court premises, chanting solidarity songs and displaying placards with bold inscriptions such as “Wike must go!!”, “Abuja no be Rivers”, “Pay promotion arrears”, “Enough is Enough” and “No working tools”.
The demonstrators accused the FCTA authorities of failing to address longstanding demands, including unpaid promotion arrears, inadequate working tools, and poor welfare conditions, despite repeated engagements and warnings from organised labour.

The NLC said the decision to picket the court was aimed at drawing national attention to the grievances of FCTA workers and pressing the authorities to urgently resolve the disputes to avert further disruption of services in the nation’s capital.
As of the time of filing this report, activities at the National Industrial Court were disrupted, while labour leaders insisted that the strike would continue until their demands are fully met.
