JAMB BANS CBT CENTRES WITHOUT LIVE MONITORING FROM 2026 UTME REGISTRATION

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has barred Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres whose registration activities cannot be monitored remotely from participating in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The directive was announced in JAMB’s weekly bulletin published on Monday, as the Board officially commenced registration for the 2026 UTME.
JAMB said the policy, tagged “No Vision, No Registration, No UTME,” is aimed at curbing registration infractions and strengthening the integrity of its examination processes.
The Registrar of JAMB, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, disclosed this at a stakeholders’ meeting involving Peace Monitors, Chief Technical Advisers, Chief External Examiners, and zonal and state coordinators responsible for monitoring CBT centres nationwide.
Oloyede stated that all CBT centres approved for the 2026 UTME registration would be monitored live from JAMB’s National Headquarters in Abuja, stressing that any centre not visible on the Board’s monitoring system would be disqualified.
“Any centre whose registration activities cannot be viewed from the JAMB National Headquarters, Abuja, will not be paid, and such registration may be invalidated,” he warned.
The registrar also announced the compulsory use of Microsoft or Digitech live cameras for UTME registration, noting that only approved devices would be permitted for capturing candidates’ second images. He explained that the decision followed cases of image manipulation detected during the 2025 UTME registration exercise.
Providing technical guidelines, Oloyede said all existing CBT centres must migrate to HIKVision Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) systems, with HIKVision recommended as the Network Video Recorder (NVR) or Digital Video Recorder (DVR). He added that the NVRs must have a minimum of 16 channels to adequately cover all sections of the examination centres.
He further stated that all CCTV systems must be wired, as wireless CCTV would no longer be allowed. According to him, cameras must cover critical areas including the examination hall, verification area, holding room, walkways, server room, and entrance and exit points.

Oloyede warned that erring centres would face stiff sanctions, including possible prosecution, adding that JAMB would not bear the cost of reconfiguring CCTV routers for any centre.
He recalled that several centres and individuals previously involved in malpractice had been delisted and were currently being prosecuted, stressing that the Board would not hesitate to take similar action against any centre or individual found violating examination rules.
JAMB officially began the registration of candidates for the 2026 UTME on Monday.
