BILL & HILLARY CLINTON DEMAND PUBLIC TESTIMONY ON EPSTEIN TIES, WARN AGAINST ‘POLITICISATION’

Former United States President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton have called for their congressional testimony on alleged ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein to be held publicly, warning that closed-door proceedings could be politicised by Republicans.
The couple has been ordered to give closed-door depositions before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, which is investigating Epstein’s links to powerful individuals and how information about his crimes was handled before his death.
In a statement, the committee said Hillary Clinton is scheduled to appear for her deposition on February 26, while Bill Clinton will testify on February 27.
Democrats have criticised the probe, arguing that it is being weaponised to target political opponents of President Donald Trump, who was also a longtime associate of Epstein but has not been called to testify.
House Republicans had earlier threatened to hold the Clintons in contempt if they failed to appear but later confirmed that both had agreed to testify.
However, Bill Clinton on Friday said holding the proceedings behind closed doors would amount to a “kangaroo court.”
“Let’s stop the games & do this the right way: in a public hearing,” the former president wrote on X.
Hillary Clinton said the couple had already provided the Republican-led committee with all relevant information.
“If you want this fight… let’s have it in public,” she said on Thursday.
The renewed controversy follows the Justice Department’s release last week of millions of documents, photos and videos linked to its investigation into Epstein, who died by suicide in custody in 2019.
While Bill Clinton’s name appears frequently in the released files, authorities have found no evidence implicating either him or Hillary Clinton in criminal activity.
The former president has acknowledged flying on Epstein’s private jet in the early 2000s for Clinton Foundation-related humanitarian work but maintained that he never visited Epstein’s private island.
Hillary Clinton, who was the Democratic presidential candidate in 2016, said she had no meaningful interaction with Epstein, never flew on his plane and never visited his island.
