Barcelona cruised to a 3-0 home victory over Mallorca on Saturday to extend their lead at the top of the La Liga table.

Hansi Flick’s side dominated possession from the opening exchanges, with Marcus Rashford narrowly missing the target early on before playing a decisive role in the breakthrough. His blocked effort fell kindly for Dani Olmo, who headed the ball into the path of Robert Lewandowski, and the striker finished calmly to open the scoring in the 29th minute.

After the interval, Barcelona maintained the pressure. Marc Casado struck the post as the hosts pushed forward, and the advantage was doubled in the 61st minute when 18-year-old Lamine Yamal produced a brilliant long-range strike to score his fifth goal in successive matches across all competitions.

Another teenager, substitute Marc Bernal, wrapped up the win with an impressive solo run and a low finish. The result lifted Barcelona to 58 points, four ahead of second-placed Real Madrid, who face Valencia on Sunday.

“We are in a great moment,” Barca midfielder Marc Casado told Movistar Plus.

“We know what we had to do, and we executed it well. Atletico Madrid are next, they are a great team, and we know they won’t make it easy for us.”

With Raphinha and Pedri sidelined through injury and Frenkie de Jong rested as a precaution ahead of Thursday’s Copa del Rey semi-final first leg against Atletico Madrid, Barcelona controlled the game from kick-off but initially struggled to find a cutting edge in the final third.

Mallorca looked dangerous on the counter and came close in the 18th minute when Vedat Muriqi struck the post from close range. Jan Virgili was also twice denied by Barcelona goalkeeper Joan Garcia from inside the penalty area.

Rashford eventually provided the spark Barcelona needed, creating several opportunities, including the move that led to Lewandowski’s opener. He also tested Mallorca goalkeeper Roman with a well-struck free kick.

Roman went on to make further saves to deny Olmo and Fermin Lopez as Barcelona intensified the pressure after the break, but he could do little to stop Yamal’s moment of brilliance in the 61st minute, when the winger unleashed a stunning strike that flew in off the left post.

Bernal then made an immediate impact off the bench, surging forward from midfield, gliding into the box and firing low into the bottom corner to seal a comprehensive win.
