The Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy Alumni Association has emphasised the need for impactful leadership following its Annual General Meeting, where members reviewed accomplishments and celebrated key milestones.
According to a statement released on Sunday, the meeting served as a pivotal moment for the alumni network, allowing members to assess progress and outline a strategic vision for the coming years.
A major development highlighted during the gathering was the association’s official registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission, formally recognising it as a legal entity under the Federal Government of Nigeria.
The alumni also showcased flagship initiatives from the past year, including the Stay in School Project, which supported secondary school students with learning materials, mentorship, and guidance to stay committed to their education.

The statement emphasized that the initiative conveyed a clear and powerful message: education remains one of the most vital investments in the nation’s future.
In addition, the association organised an interactive webinar for prospective fellows and applicants interested in joining the academy.
The AGM was also attended by Seyi Jakande, Chairman of Odi-Olowo Local Council Development Area and son of the late Alhaji Lateef Jakande, the first civilian governor of Lagos State, after whom the academy is named.
In her address, the Chairperson of the Alumni Executive Council, Adepeju Balogun-Awe, outlined the association’s long-term vision, saying that by 2035, “we envision the Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy Alumni Association as a respected voice in leadership, governance, and policy; a strong network of professionals shaping systems across sectors, and a trusted mentorship pipeline for emerging leaders. Our goal is not merely to occupy leadership positions, but to create pathways, strengthen institutions, and uplift others along the way.”
The AGM concluded with members renewing their commitment to collaborate across sectors, support governance reforms, foster professional growth, and advance community development initiatives.
