POLICE THWART BANDIT ATTACK, KILL TWO SUSPECTS IN KATSINA

The Katsina State Police Command successfully foiled a bandit attack and neutralised two suspected bandits in Dandume Local Government Area.
According to a statement from the Police Public Relations Officer, Abubakar Sadiq, released to journalists on Wednesday in Katsina, the incident occurred when suspected armed bandits stormed Gidan Soda village in Dandume, opening fire and killing one resident before security operatives arrived, prompting a gun battle.
“On February 17, 2025, at approximately 0045 hours, information was received that suspected armed bandits, carrying dangerous weapons and shooting sporadically, attacked Gidan Soda village, Dandume LGA, fatally shooting one Hassana Muhammad, a 30-year-old woman, before the arrival of security personnel,” Sadiq stated.

“Upon receiving the report, the DPO quickly deployed operatives who, working alongside the military and members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps, responded to the scene. The team engaged the attackers in a gunfight, successfully thwarting the assault as the bandits fled under superior firepower.
“During a search of the area, the bodies of two neutralised suspected bandits and a Boxer motorcycle were recovered. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects as the investigation continues,” the statement added.
The Commissioner of Police Bello Shehu praised the security team for their professionalism and efficiency during the operation.
He reaffirmed the command’s dedication, working in collaboration with other security agencies, to maintaining safety and security throughout the state.
