MAN CAUGHT SMUGGLING HARD DRUGS IN IBADAN CORRECTIONAL CENTRE

A visitor to the Nigerian Correctional Service Agodi Facility in Agodi, Ibadan, Oyo State, was arrested for attempting to smuggle hard drugs concealed in food.
The individual was apprehended on Wednesday while trying to bring suspected narcotics into the medium-security custodial centre.
O.O Anjorin, Public Relations Officer for the Oyo State command of the Nigerian Correctional Service, confirmed the incident to the media on Thursday. He said the suspect was intercepted during routine security checks on visitors and their belongings at the facility’s entrance.
The visitor, who claimed to be seeing an inmate, was found hiding substances suspected to be Colorado and hemp inside a portion of cooked rice. Upon arrest, he was handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation.
Anjorin added that appropriate legal action would follow.

He stated, “At approximately 2:20 p.m. on Wednesday, 25th February 2026, a male visitor was apprehended during routine security checks at the facility entrance. The suspect, claiming to be visiting an inmate, was found concealing substances suspected to be Colorado and hemp inside cooked rice.
“Following the arrest, he was immediately handed over to the NDLEA for investigation and further legal action. The handover was conducted by the Officer-in-Charge of the facility, Assistant Controller of Corrections, Sunday Adekunmbi.
“The Controller of Corrections for Oyo State, Osogun C Olusegun, commended the officers for their vigilance and professionalism, reaffirming the NCoS’s commitment to maintaining the security, safety, and integrity of all custodial centres in the state.”
