Pop icon Britney Spears was reportedly arrested on Wednesday night for driving under the influence (DUI), according to law-enforcement sources.
The Britney Spears was taken into custody by the California Highway Patrol at around 9:30 PM. She was later booked by the Sheriff’s Department at approximately 3 AM and released from jail around 6 AM Thursday, according to inmate records.
According to TMZ, Spears was alone in her vehicle when officers stopped her in Westlake Village, not far from her home. After the stop, she was taken to a nearby hospital for a blood draw, which is standard procedure in DUI cases. Sources say the hospital visit was precautionary and that she was not injured.
Spears’ representatives have not yet commented on the incident.

The arrest comes shortly after a legal win for the singer, who recently obtained a permanent restraining order against a man from Louisiana. The man allegedly appeared at her Los Angeles home and shared disturbing content about her on social media.
Spears has previously dealt with legal issues. In 2007, she faced misdemeanor charges related to an alleged hit-and-run incident, though those charges were later dismissed after she compensated the vehicle owner for damages. A related case also ended in a mistrial when the jury failed to reach a unanimous verdict.
The pop star—best known for her hit song Toxic—has also faced public scrutiny over her personal life. In the past, she lost custody of her two children with former husband Kevin Federline following a series of highly publicized personal struggles.
