AMAECHI REACTS TO ATTACK ON ADC SECRETARIAT IN RIVERS

HOTJIST NEWS
Rotimi Amaechi, who used to be the minister of transportation and is also a leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), says the attack on the party‘s office in his hometown in Rivers state won’t stop his supporters from trying to vote out the current government.
On Friday, some people who haven’t been identified yet set fire to the ADC office in Ubima, which is in the Ikwerre area of the state. Amaechi was planning to officially join the ADC as a member in Ward 8 of Ubima by 10:00 am on Friday.
Residents in the community woke up to a fire that broke out early in the morning and damaged part of the party office.
The event caused fear and worry among people living nearby.
In a message shared on X, Amaechi called the attack “evil acts of intimidation and violence” and asked security forces to find and arrest those responsible.
He said, “I have told our ADC party members and my supporters not to use violence or take revenge.
Security agencies must catch and hold the people behind this and their supporters accountable.”
He added, “These acts of intimidation and violence will not stop us; they will make us more determined to remove this government that is quickly harming our country, Nigeria.
“
The attack happened just before Amaechi officially joined the opposition party at ward 8 in the local government.
Amaechi told supporters who had come to welcome him to avoid any kind of violence that could result in someone’s death.
He said, “Don’t be violent because it can lead to someone dying — don’t be violent. At the same time, they can’t stop us from meeting in our community.“
