Osun State Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke has asserted that the achievements of his administration justify his bid for re-election ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election.
The governor made the statement on Wednesday while receiving a delegation from the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Osun State Council, during a courtesy visit. The delegation was led by the society’s National Vice President, Asiwaju Justice Adeigbe (Rtd), along with Chief Daud Oladapo, Chairman of the Osun State chapter, and other members.
Governor Adeleke thanked the delegation and called for prayers and support as political activities ahead of the election commence. “Today marks the start of campaigning for the August 15 governorship election. We need your prayers and support for a free and fair election where the will of the people will prevail,” he said.
He also unveiled an upgraded Five-Point Agenda intended to guide his administration if re-elected. The agenda focuses on:
- Integrated youth, women, and workers’ welfare and empowerment
- Infrastructure consolidation for social and economic wellbeing
- Agro-industrial expansion for human development and collective prosperity
- Affordable, high-quality health and education access
- An improved and secure business environment to drive job creation
On his re-election bid, Adeleke emphasized that his administration’s performance across key sectors forms the basis for seeking another mandate. “When asked whether I deserve re-election, I said yes, based on the achievements of my first term. We have empowered the cooperative movement with nearly four billion naira, strengthened community development associations with health and infrastructure projects, and implemented the Imole Medical Outreach benefiting almost eighty thousand residents,” he said.

He highlighted initiatives in agriculture and rural development, including cocoa seedling distribution, provision of tractors for farmers, and rural projects under the O-RAMP programme.
In governance and infrastructure, he cited reforms such as the introduction of a 45-day window for obtaining Certificates of Occupancy, revival of the Osun Free Trade Zone, digitisation of tax collection, and implementation of the SIFMIS payroll system to ensure financial transparency.
Adeleke also detailed infrastructural achievements, including construction of over 350 kilometres of roads, three flyover bridges, rehabilitation of waterworks, drilling of 332 boreholes, upgrading of schools and health centres, and settlement of inherited half-salaries and pension obligations.
The governor assured residents that, if re-elected, his administration would continue to pursue inclusive governance and development initiatives aimed at improving citizens’ welfare. “My promise to the people of Osun is that now and when re-elected, we will continue to run an inclusive, forward-looking government that keeps the people at the centre of our programmes and policies,” he said.
Speaking on behalf of the society, State Secretary Dr. Afeez Akande commended the governor for notable developmental strides. He said the organisation had monitored the administration’s activities and was satisfied with the pace and execution of projects.
Dr. Akande noted that projects followed clear timelines, reflecting administrative discipline, love for the state, and commitment to the people. He highlighted ongoing initiatives such as road dualisation in areas like the Iwo axis, noting that such projects stimulate economic activity. “That road project has boosted economic activity in the area. Such development comes from a visionary leader committed to implementation. We appreciate your efforts and are resolved to support continuity,” he said.
