NOLLYWOOD STAR KUNLE AFOLAYAN STRUGGLES WITH N11M MONTHLY DIESEL BILL

Renowned Kunle Afolayan, a Nollywood filmmaker and entrepreneur, has appealed for financial assistance as he struggles to cope with the recent surge in fuel prices.
In a video currently circulating on social media, the actor revealed that his KAP Film Village spends about ₦11 million monthly on diesel, despite also running on solar power.
Expressing concern over the rising operational costs, Afolayan said sustaining the business has become increasingly difficult, noting that diesel purchases are sometimes made on credit.
“It’s not sustainable because even the diesel we’ve been buying is often on credit. When we make some money, we try to pay it back, but sometimes it takes up to two months before we can clear the debt and get another supply on credit,” he explained.
The filmmaker also appealed to the public for support, saying he needs funding to upgrade the facility’s solar power system.
“We need a loan to expand our solar power setup. If anyone can come to our aid, I would truly appreciate it,” he said.
Afolayan added that the sharp increase in diesel prices—from around ₦995–₦1,000 per litre to over ₦1,500—has left him distressed.
“I’ve been worried because I can’t keep up with diesel selling at ₦1,500 per litre. In one of our businesses, KAP Film Village, we spend nearly ₦11 million within four to five weeks. Even with solar power, the cost of diesel is still very high,” he lamented.
