Veteran Nollywood actress Eucharia Anunobi has opened up about the criticism she faced nearly 30 years ago for her role in Glamour Girls 2.
In a recent episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast, Anunobi said she received intense backlash because some viewers could not separate her real-life personality from her character, Anita—a bold and promiscuous escort in the film.
She explained that many people began associating her with Anita’s traits, even calling her “a husband snatcher” and “mammy water.”

“I faced a lot of backlash for my role in Glamour Girls 2. At that time, many Nigerians pretended they didn’t watch such films, but they still judged me. They labelled me Sharon Stone, Mammy Water, Husband Snatcher,” she said.
“The character I played was a student who stole a wealthy man from his wife, so people saw me as a seductress. Well, I am very alluring—I can’t deny it, because to deny myself is to deny God. It got to a point where women, if they saw me with their men, would hold them tightly,” she added.
Anunobi emphasized that she was simply performing a script. She also revealed that she received extra payment for the steamy bathtub scene with Zack Orji in the movie.
