LAGOS BUS SERVICES LIMITED TAKES DECISIVE ACTION AGAINST FUEL SIPHONING, REAFFIRMS ZERO-TOLERANCE POLICY

Lagos Bus Services Limited (LBSL) has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of integrity and public safety, condemning in the strongest terms the recent fuel siphoning incident involving two of its bus captains.
A statement signed by the LBSL’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Idowu Oguntona, revealed that the incident, which occurred on March 10, 2026, was promptly reported to LBSL through a video recorded by a concerned citizen. The individuals involved were identified, apprehended, and handed over to the security personnel for further investigation.
Following due process, the suspects were arraigned before a Mobile Court on March 12, 2026, and were remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Facility pending a further hearing scheduled for April 22, 2026.
The Managing Director has expressed the company’s unwavering commitment to accountability, transparency, and strict enforcement of operational standards. “We strongly condemn any act that compromises the trust reposed in our workforce and the resources entrusted to us by the government and the people of Lagos State”.
He also expressed appreciation for the vigilance of the concerned citizen who reported the incident, emphasising the importance of public cooperation in maintaining the integrity and efficiency of the public transportation system.
Oguntona spoke further that LBSL has reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards gross misconduct, stating that any staff member found engaging in fraudulent activities, theft, or any form of gross misconduct will face immediate disciplinary action and possible prosecution in accordance with the law.
The decisive action taken in this matter serves as a strong deterrent to others and reinforces the organisation’s unwavering commitment to ethical conduct.
