A security group, Kwara South Joint Security Watch, has raised concerns over an alleged plan by suspected terrorists to carry out coordinated attacks in three local government areas of Kwara State.

The group said intelligence reports indicate that Ifelodun, Irepodun and Isin Local Government Areas in the Kwara South Senatorial District are the likely targets.

It added that the attacks are reportedly scheduled to occur simultaneously on March 23 and March 28, 2026, prompting heightened alert among security agencies in the state.

Speaking in a telephone interview with The Media, the group’s coordinator, Olaitan Oyin-Zubair, confirmed the development and said the intelligence is being treated with urgency.

He said the intelligence gathered pointed to an imminent attack, stressing that the group was taking no chances, while noting that security agencies had responded proactively. He added that as of about 6 p.m., heavy deployment of military and paramilitary personnel, including aerial surveillance, had been carried out in the affected areas.

In an earlier statement on Saturday, Oyin-Zubair urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by reporting any suspicious movements within their communities.

He also disclosed that relevant authorities, including the Kwara State Police Command, local government chairmen in the affected areas and other security agencies, had been formally alerted to the threat.

The statement said in part that, in light of the suspected bandit attacks scheduled for March 23 and March 28, 2026, authorities—including the Kwara State Police Command, the chairmen of Ifelodun, Irepodun and Isin Local Government Areas, and other security agencies—have been alerted and are taking necessary precautions to ensure the safety of residents.

Residents were urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities, with the group stressing that safety remains a top priority and calling for collective efforts to keep communities secure.

The Media gathered that community leaders and local security networks are working closely with law enforcement agencies to ensure early detection of any suspicious movements linked to the alleged plot.

Residents in the affected areas have also been advised to stay calm while remaining alert, as security agencies intensify surveillance operations across the region.

The development comes amid growing concerns over the spread of armed groups and banditry in parts of North Central Nigeria, prompting several states to strengthen local security structures to address emerging threats.

As of the time of filing this report, the Kwara State Police Command had yet to issue an official statement on the intelligence report.

However, when contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, said she was not aware of the development.

She, however, promised to revert to our correspondent on the matter, but had yet to do so as of the time of filing this report.

Meanwhile, sources said internal security operations have already been activated across the affected local government areas.
