United Nigeria Airlines has alerted passengers and the public to disruptions in its flight operations following a bird strike involving one of its Airbus A320 aircraft on Sunday.
The airline disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday, noting that the incident occurred on Flight UN0509 from Asaba International Airport to Murtala Muhammed International Airport, scheduled to depart at 12:00 hours.
“Due to a bird strike on one of the engines of its operating Airbus A320 aircraft during Flight UN0509, some flights across our network will not operate as scheduled,” the airline said in a statement.

In line with safety procedures, the affected aircraft has been withdrawn from service for a thorough inspection before it can resume operations.
“In adherence to our strict and uncompromising safety standards, the affected aircraft has been withdrawn from service for comprehensive inspection before returning to operations,” the statement added.
The airline apologized to passengers for the inconvenience caused and appealed for their understanding.
“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this unforeseen development may cause to your travel plans and kindly appeal for the understanding and patience of our valued passengers and the general public,” it said.
According to reports, the airline has recorded its fourth bird strike incident in the past month, underscoring a growing operational challenge in the sector.
The most recent occurrence was at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, where an Airbus A320 operating Flight UN0519 from Abuja to Lagos encountered birds during takeoff.
United Nigeria Airlines reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the highest safety standards while working to reduce disruptions to passengers.
“Our team is working diligently to minimize disruptions and provide support to all affected travelers,” the statement concluded.
