The new Commissioner of Police for Ogun State, Bode Ojajuni, has said that under his leadership, as directed by the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, any act of indiscipline or lack of respect for human dignity by police operatives in the state command will not be tolerated.

Ojajuni said his administration would not tolerate any form of illegality or impunity, stressing that officers serving in the state must respect the rights of citizens in adherence to extant laws and rules of engagement.

The new CP also called for mutual respect from members of the public, urging them to collaborate with the police to strengthen the security architecture of the state.

He vowed that his leadership would not tolerate criminal acts across the length and breadth of the state, warning those with criminal intentions to either desist or face the full weight of the law.

Ojajuni made the disclosure on Monday during his first briefing at the State Police Command headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, marking his assumption of office as the new Commissioner of Police for Ogun State.

The CP stated, “The Inspector-General of Police has also made it clear that there will be zero tolerance for abuse of office, indiscipline, incivility towards the public, human rights violations, and corruption.

“These directives are non-negotiable, and I assure you that I will enforce them fully and without compromise.”

“Discipline is the foundation of the Nigeria Police Force, and I will not tolerate indiscipline among officers under my command. Our conduct must always reflect professionalism, respect for human dignity, and strict adherence to the rule of law,” Bode Ojajuni said.

He urged all officers to treat members of the public with dignity, courtesy, and respect, emphasizing that professionalism in service is non-negotiable.

Ojajuni also called on the public to engage with the police and other security agencies with civility and mutual respect, describing citizens as partners in maintaining law and order.

He stressed that a few erring officers would not be allowed to tarnish the reputation of the Force and encouraged both officers and the public to report any misconduct through proper channels.

“The peace and security of the people of Ogun State remain my top priority. I pledge to be accessible, responsive, and committed to proactive policing strategies that ensure safety across the state,” he added.

He explained that his administration would implement a robust, proactive, and uncompromising system to monitor the conduct of officers and men.

Ojajuni added that the Complaint Response Unit would serve as a key channel for the public to report misconduct and hold officers accountable.

He said the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) is accessible via telephone and social media platforms, including Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and WhatsApp.

The new CP noted that the Gateway Shield App and the Control Room would remain fully operational to receive complaints, intelligence, and other relevant information from the public in real time, emphasizing that these platforms are intended to enhance transparency, responsiveness, and public trust.

He added that the X-Squad and the Police Monitoring Unit would be fully deployed and strengthened to maintain internal discipline and professional conduct among officers, stressing that there would be no safe haven for misconduct.

Ojajuni pledged that his administration would be inclusive, ensuring that all stakeholders feel a sense of belonging in the collective effort to create a safer state.

“We will deepen collaboration with traditional rulers, community leaders, the media, and other security agencies,” he said.

“Fairness, justice, and equity will guide all our actions. I urge members of the public to continue supporting the police by providing credible and timely information to help us effectively combat crime.

“To the officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force in Ogun State, I charge you to prepare for the task ahead. We must carry out our duties with renewed vigour, discipline, and unity of purpose to achieve our collective goals,” Ojajuni added.

“I also assure officers that, as a welfarist, their welfare will be given top priority under my leadership. It is a great pleasure to work with you all once again,” Ojajuni said.

“To the people of Ogun State, we will make unrelenting efforts to maintain the existing peace and ensure a safe and secure environment across the state,” he added.
