PLATEAU ATTACK: IGP DISU ORDERS MASSIVE DEPLOYMENT, STRENGTHENS SECURITY OPERATIONS TO RESTORE PEACE

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, has condemned the recent attack in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, which resulted in the loss of innocent lives, and has ordered the deployment of additional security forces to restore calm and apprehend the perpetrators.

IGP Disu extended his condolences to the Executive Governor of Plateau State, affected families, and residents of the Angwan Rukuba community over the tragic incident.

In response, the IGP had earlier dispatched the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations, DIG Umar Shehu Nadada, psc, mni, to Plateau State to assess the situation, coordinate ongoing operations, and strengthen the security framework.

Operations have been further intensified with the deployment of tactical units, Police Mobile Force teams, and intelligence operatives, working alongside other security agencies to address the security challenges and prevent further disruptions of law and order across the State.

The IGP stated that these measures will continue until normalcy is fully restored. All operational commanders have been directed to ensure visible policing and maintain active engagement with vulnerable communities.

IGP Disu also called on the public to remain calm and vigilant, cooperate with security agencies, avoid taking the law into their own hands, and promptly report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities to support ongoing operations.
