The Anambra State Special Anti-Touting Squad (SASA) has destroyed illicit drugs valued at about ₦80 million following coordinated raids across multiple locations in Anambra State.
The operation covered key areas including Onitsha and surrounding communities such as Nsugbe, Umuchu, Ojoto, Oba, Nkpor, and Nkwelle Ezunaka.
Speaking during the exercise, the Managing Director of SASA, Monday Nwokoye, said the raids were carried out based on credible intelligence, reinforcing the agency’s zero-tolerance stance on drug abuse and touting.
“The raid underscores SASA’s commitment to dismantling illicit drug networks and curbing criminality across Anambra State. Illicit drugs estimated at ₦80 million were found and destroyed to ensure they do not re-enter circulation,” he said.

Nwokoye warned individuals involved in the sale or consumption of illegal substances to desist or face strict legal consequences, stressing that drug-related activities fuel theft, violence, and insecurity.
He also called on residents to support security efforts by reporting suspicious activities, noting that community collaboration is vital in maintaining safety.
The SASA boss commended the Governor of Anambra State, Chukwuma Soludo, for his continued support in strengthening security operations across the state.

He assured residents that the agency would remain resolute in its mandate to eliminate drug abuse, touting, and criminal activities, urging the public to remain vigilant.
