Billionaire philanthropist and Bill Gates is set to testify on June 10 before a US congressional committee investigating the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell.

According to a source familiar with the matter, Gates will participate in a “transcribed interview,” a closed-door format previously used for high-profile figures including former US President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

The development follows the release of documents by the US Department of Justice that detail Epstein’s network of influential associates, including alleged personal and financial links.

In a statement to AFP, a spokesperson for Gates said he “welcomes the opportunity” to cooperate with the committee, stressing that he neither witnessed nor participated in Epstein’s criminal activities.

Gates has previously acknowledged that his association with Epstein was a “huge mistake,” admitting to personal relationships with two Russian women but firmly denying any involvement in illegal conduct linked to the disgraced financier.

Documents released by investigators included claims attributed to Epstein regarding Gates’ personal life, though Gates has denied any wrongdoing involving Epstein’s victims.

Epstein, who was awaiting trial on charges of sex trafficking minors, died in a New York jail in 2019. Gates has said their relationship began in 2011, despite Epstein’s earlier conviction, and continued for several years, even after concerns were raised by his then-wife, Melinda.

The upcoming testimony is expected to shed further light on Epstein’s connections with prominent global figures as investigations continue.
