The Northern States Governors’ Forum has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Muhammad Usman Zuru, who passed away in the early hours of Tuesday in Egypt.

In a condolence message, Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Yahaya, described the late Speaker’s death as a painful and monumental loss to Kebbi State, the northern region, and Nigeria’s democratic community.

In a statement issued by his Director-General of Press Affairs, Ismaila Uba Misilli, Yahaya said Zuru was a distinguished lawmaker who contributed significantly to governance.

“He was an accomplished lawmaker, a stabilising force in governance, and a patriotic leader who served with uncommon commitment, wisdom, and humility,” the statement read.

The governor noted that the late Speaker’s legacy would endure through his dedication to democratic ideals and service to the people of Kebbi State.

Yahaya extended condolences on behalf of the Forum to Governor Nasir Idris, the family of the deceased, members of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, and the Zuru Emirate Council.

He also offered prayers for the repose of the late Speaker’s soul, asking Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.
