The Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has taken a major step toward enhancing public safety with the groundbreaking ceremony of a new fire station in the community. The project is a major milestone in grassroots development as dignitaries, government officials, and community leaders convened for the groundbreaking ceremony in Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, Lagos State, an initiative aimed at strengthening emergency response and enhancing public safety across the community.

The project, described as a critical intervention, is aimed at strengthening emergency response capacity and improving the protection of lives and property across the LCDA. This is the first LCDA in Lagos state to birth such a project through the leadership of Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada, this action truly define her popular statement “my heart is where my community is”.

Residents and stakeholders have long expressed the need for closer and more efficient fire service operations, especially in rapidly developing areas prone to fire outbreaks and related emergencies.

The event drew key stakeholders dedicated to improving infrastructure and safeguarding lives, reflecting ongoing efforts to bring critical services closer to residents and reduce the risks associated with fire incidents.

Under the leadership of Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada, the LCDA has continued to prioritize people-centered projects focused on improving residents’ quality of life. Officials noted that the facility would significantly boost response time and be equipped with modern firefighting tools to effectively handle emergencies.

In addition to the groundbreaking, Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada also unveiled a newly completed project which is the male and female restrooms for visitors. She explained that the offices within the facility are designed with their own dedicated restrooms to avoid inconveniencing guests and officials, as well as to ensure privacy and better functionality.

Proposed 3d plan of the Ikosi-Isheri Fire Station

The project also aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which prioritizes infrastructure development, safety, and improved service delivery at the grassroots level.

However, Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada disclosed that plans are underway to make Ikosi-Isheri a cleaner community. She explained that arrangements are being put in place to create designated spaces for temporary refuse storage before proper disposal. According to her, tricycles will be deployed to collect waste that is properly packaged in tightly sealed bags from households on a daily basis, ensuring a more efficient and hygienic waste management system.

Residents have welcomed the initiative, expressing confidence that the fire station will help protect lives and property, create employment opportunities, and promote greater awareness of fire prevention.

The development is seen as more than just infrastructure, it represents a proactive move toward building a safer, more resilient, and sustainable Ikosi-Isheri community. Completion is expected within the stipulated timeframe, further underscoring Lagos State’s commitment to public safety.
