Nigeria has formalised the postings of its envoys to the United Kingdom, France, and the United Nations following the receipt of agrément from the respective host authorities.

The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, presented the Letters of Credence on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, marking a key step in the formal accreditation of the country’s diplomatic representatives.

The envoys include Aminu Dalhatu (UK), Ayodele Oke (France), and Jimoh Ibrahim as Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York.

Odumegwu-Ojukwu described the presentation as a critical stage in diplomatic practice, noting that Letters of Credence are formal instruments issued by a head of state to introduce and accredit ambassadors to host nations.

She explained that the documents empower envoys to represent their country’s interests and seek recognition and trust from the receiving states.

The minister congratulated the appointees and wished them success in their diplomatic assignments.

Earlier, President Tinubu had approved the deployment of 65 ambassadors-designate and high commissioners, with the Senate confirming the nominees in December 2025.

So far, 10 countries, including the United Kingdom, France, the United States, Ireland, Qatar, the Republic of Benin, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Senegal, and Sierra Leone, have granted agrément, while responses from other nations are still being awaited.
