OKEMESI EKITI: Tension flared in Okemesi Ekiti on Thursday after an alleged attack by political thugs on supporters of a factional group within the All Progressives Congress [APC].

According to reports, the incident occurred at an ongoing hotel construction site in Alamo, Okemesi. A statement from the APC factional group alleged that the attackers, working for individuals identified as current House of Assembly member JOBA and Barr. Wale Fapounda “Oga Sope” were accompanied by Adesina Ademola, popularly known as “Demola Iba Esu,” and some policemen from the Ijero and Aramoko Police Headquarters.

The group claimed the assailants attacked labourers at the site, leaving several people injured with machetes. The injured were reportedly taken to unknown destination.

The statement linked the incident to early political maneuvering ahead of the 2027 House of Assembly contest in the area.
