OGUN PDP EXPELS ADEBUTU, FOUR OTHERS OVER ALLEGED INVOLVEMENT IN THE MANIPULATION OF DELEGATES’ LIST
By Aishat Momoh. O.
Ladi Adebutu and four other party members were expelled on Thursday, according to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chapter in Ogun State.
The expulsion, according to the party, was due to their suspected involvement in the manipulation of the delegates’ list used to conduct the party’s primary election for governor on May 25, 2022, as well as their flagrant defiance of a court order.
After the relevant working committee of the party reviewed the report of a 5-man disciplinary panel formed to look into the allegations of anti-party, indiscipline, division, and acts capable of bringing the party into disrepute, Adebutu was expelled along with four other individuals: Taiwo Akinlabi, Sunday Solarin, Kayode Adebayo, and Akinloye Bankole.
The chairman of the disciplinary committee, Hon. Akintunde Mufutau said in a statement that: “After a thorough review of the allegation levelled against them, the panel found Adebutu and others guilty. Subsequently, they have been recommended for expulsion and same has been communicated to the necessary organs of the party for ratification.”
Remember that on Tuesday, allegations surfaced that the party had dismissed Otunba Jimi Lawal, a candidate for governor, for serious misconduct, forgery, anti-party actions, and violating the party’s constitution?
The NWC and NEC setup a disciplinary committee, led by Barrister Tola Odulaja, to recommend that Jimi Lawal be expelled.
Along with Jimi Lawal, Muyiwa Odebiyi, Moruf Olajide, and Ademola Ojoye were also expelled.
