Former Chelsea and England forward, Chris Sutton, has urged Nigerian forward, Victor Osimhen, to pick a move to Arsenal over Mauricio Pochetinno’s side.

Osimhen, 25, is one of the most sought-after players in Europe after the magic he performed in Naples last season.

The Super Eagles forward scored twenty-six league goals to help Napoli to their first Scudetto in over thirty years, which led him to win the CAF Player of the Year award.

With Arsenal and Chelsea reportedly in the transfer market looking for a striker, and both parties linked with the former Lille man, Chris Sutton has urged Osimhen to pick Mikel Arteta’s side as they’ve been the better team in recent years.

Sutton, who is a pundit with TNT Sports these days, spent the 1999/2000 Premier League season on loan at Chelsea where he racked up 28 appearances and scored one goal.

“He is better than what Chelsea and Arsenal have got. Do we think that Arsenal are going to push more than Chelsea in the next couple of seasons? Probably, but Chelsea are a bit of a slow burner. They are getting a little bit better Chelsea. It’s difficult to see how this one will pan out. But Arsenal are getting desperate for a number nine,” the 50-year-old said on BBC’s Monday Night Club in quotes revealed by The Chelsea Chronicle.

Sutton believes the former VFL Wolfsburg striker will be a massive upgrade for Mauricio Pochetinno’s side, but urged Osimhen to take the ambitious step of joining Arsenal as they’ll be competing for titles.

“Certainly with Nicolas Jackson, Osimhen is a massive upgrade. Nkunku can’t get himself fit and you feel for Pochettino with that one. They are interesting Chelsea because it’s not totally out of the realm of possibility that all of a sudden next season they hit the ground running and push. After all, they do have some good players. If he’s really ambitious at this moment in time, you wouldn’t touch Chelsea ahead of Arsenal,” the former Norwich City forward added.

In the meantime, Osimhen’s focus is the AFCON 2023 tournament with Nigeria, as they look to reach the semi-finals in Ivory Coast. They will face Angola in the quarter-final on Friday.
