
(PHOTOS): POLICE ARREST SIX SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBERS, RECOVER WEAPONS IN FCT
According to the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Police Command, at least six alleged armed robbers have been taken into custody by its agents stationed at the Utako Divisional Headquarters.
The synchronized raid operation was conducted on Tuesday, according to a statement made by SP Josephine Adeh, the Public Relations Officer for the FCT Police.
She said that the suspects were apprehended in an incomplete medical facility that had previously been identified as a “black spot” in the Utako village, based on reliable intelligence.
The suspects include one Basara Hassan, Daniel Charles, Adamu M Oshiaka, Chancy Asidi and Saliu Al Hassan, all from neighbouring states bordering the FCT.
The PPRO revealed that a locally made pistol, two live cartridges and wraps of substances suspected to be marijuana were recovered from the suspects.
According to her, further investigation on the recovered ammunition led to the arrest of another suspect, one Yusuf Iliyasu, an ex-convict and the syndicate leader.
“While investigation is ongoing, the Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh wishes to assure residents of his unwavering commitment to make Abuja a hell for criminals and to ensure safety of all,” the statement added.
