POLICE APPREHEND 89 INFAMOUS CRIMINALS IN KANO

The Kano State Police Command, On Monday announced that it has achieved notable progress in maintaining public safety and deterring criminal activity.

Salman Dogo Garba, the commissioner of police for Kano State, announced this on Monday at a press conference held at the Bompal Police Headquarters of the Command.

The police chief, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, the command’s public relations officer, reported that the police force had effectively apprehended 89 infamous offenders, including 15 suspected armed robbers, 10 suspected drug traffickers, and one suspected human trafficker.

Kiyawa also said that two victims of kidnapping and human trafficking were saved by the police.

Also, Abdullahi Kiyawa revealed that the Kano Police Command had been able to seize hazardous weapons, illegal substances, and stolen goods, which included a substantial amount of dried leaves that were thought to be Indian hemp and 538 bottles of Bacardi syrup.

According to Kiyawa, the command’s calculated choice to engage in intensive community outreach, intelligence-led operations, and 24-hour visibility patrols has paid off, as 46 suspects are currently being investigated and 43 suspects have been charged.

Kiyawa emphasized that the command understood the value of community cooperation and engagement in preserving security and peace.

“We’ve been engaging with stakeholders, including media outlets, to sensitise the public on security tips and appreciate the cooperation and support of the Kano State Government, other security agencies, and law-abiding residents.”

He announced that plans have been finalized by the command to ensure sufficient security both before and after the October 1, 2024, Independence Day celebration.

The public was asked to respect others’ rights, work with law enforcement and other security forces, and take part in the independence festivities in a responsible manner.

Along with expressing sympathy to the families of the five police officers who died in a horrific car accident on September 23, 2024, the police chief also thanked everyone for their thoughts and support.
