COURT GRANTS EX-TARABA GOV ISHAKU N150M BAIL IN ALLEGED N27 BILLION FRAUD CASE
Justice Sylvanus Oriji of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court has granted former Taraba State Governor Darius Ishaku bail in the amount of 150 million Naira with two sureties.
The two sureties must be inhabitants of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, and have their addresses validated by the court’s registrar.
The judge specified that one of them must be a director in the Federal Civil Service.
The former governor was charged by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for suspected theft of₦27 billion before Justice Oriji.

Justice Oriji forbade the former governor and his codefendant, Bello Hero, from leaving the country without the court’s consent.
The EFCC, through its counsel, Rotimi Jacobs, did not oppose the former governor’s bail application.
Jacobs added that the anti-graft agency granted the ex-governor administrative bail, which he did not violate.
Justice Oriji then set the trial dates for November 4, 5, and 13, respectively.
Ishaku served as governor of Taraba State in Nigeria’s north-east zone from May 2015 to May 2023. He was elected on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party.
