POLICE ARREST GUARD,CHEF OVER N5.5 MILLION MISSING PROPERTY
On Friday, Rapid Response Squad (RRS) officers detained a cook and a security guard on suspicion of stealing N5.5 million worth of their boss’s property.
The accused, a security guard named Rafiu Mutairu, 47, and a chef named Olusola Folorunso, 24, were taken into custody in the Badagry and Ishasi neighbourhoods of Lagos, respectively.
Both suspects were employed by the same company in a well-known estate in Ojodu, Ikeja, and sometime in September 2024, while their boss was away abroad, they took the property and sold it.
Jewellery, a chest freezer, a pumping machine, a refrigerator and freezer, five split air conditioners, and an inverter were among the stolen goods. A total of N5.5 million has been assigned to each item.
According to investigations, the security guard helped find purchasers for the things while Folorunsho removed the personal belongings and domestic items from their boss’s house.
Investigations further showed that Folorunsho fled to Badagry after committing the crime, and that attempts to persuade him to help recover those things were unsuccessful.
CSP Shola Jejeloye, Commander of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), has ordered that the accused be charged in court.
