ONE KILLED AS POLICE OPERATIVES RAID SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS IN ADAMAWA

One alleged kidnapper was killed in Adamawa State after police operatives raided a known hideout of the suspects.

The police revealed on Monday that, in addition to the suspect who was killed, one other suspect was arrested, while several others managed to flee.

In a statement, the Adamawa State Police Command stated that, as part of their ongoing efforts to eliminate criminal activity in the state, police operatives, in cooperation with local security groups, targeted the suspected kidnappers.

“In a coordinated operation, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, in conjunction with hunters, raided a suspected kidnappers’ hideout located at the Holma Mountains in Song Local Government Area,” the police said in a statement by the state command spokesman, SP Suleiman Nguroje.

Shedding further light on the incident, the police added: “On sighting the operatives, the armed criminals opened fire in an attempt to resist arrest. However, during the ensuing gun duel, one of the kidnappers was neutralized, while others escaped with bullet wounds. One suspect, identified as Mohammed Sale, male, was arrested.”

According to the police, one AK-47 rifle, two locally made guns, and five rounds of AK-47 live ammunition were recovered from the suspects.

“The arrested suspect is currently in custody, providing useful information to aid the ongoing investigations,” the police added.
