Senate Advocates First Line Charge Funding For Army.
The Senate and the Nigerian army have come to a consensus on the need to engage with the executive in a bid to place the Nigerian army on a first line charge so as to ensure 100 percent release of its budget
This followed a plea by chief of army staff, Lt. General Tukur Buratai on the need to increase the budget of the Nigerian Army so as to properly equip it to tackle the security challenges confronting the country.
Buratai who made the plea on Thursday during a budget defence session of the Senate committee on Army said the army has been working tirelessly to rid the Nation of the remnants of Boko Haram terrorists and other rogue elements disturbing the peace of the Nation.
He told the committee that paucity of funds has been affecting it’s operations across the country.
