In celebration of the 2025 World Book Day, Kiddies Arena Bookstore—a rising advocate for children’s literacy—launched a large-scale outreach campaign on May 1st, distributing over 1,000 books and educational toys to children across five underserved communities in Ogun State: Alomaja, Aboro, Moshalashi, Baba Meta, and Egbado.
The initiative, powered by the generosity of donors and the dedication of volunteers, brought joy and inspiration to children—many of whom were receiving their first-ever personal books.
“The joy on the children’s faces was priceless. You could see the excitement as they flipped through pages, discovering new words and worlds,” said Mr. Abdulkabir, one of the volunteers.
A significant portion of the donated books—43%—came from the University of Ilorin Muslim Alumni Association (UMAA), whose support was instrumental in the success of the campaign.
The bookstore expressed heartfelt gratitude to all contributors who helped make the dream of literacy accessible for so many young minds.
“These books are more than just reading materials—they’re tools for growth, creativity, and a brighter future,” a statement from the bookstore read.
Special recognition was given to key volunteers who brought the event to life, including Mr. Muhideen Hamzat, Mr. Ibrahim Rasheed, Mr. Olamilekan Adebayo, Mr. Olawale Olayiwola, Mr. Abdulbasit Balogun, Miss Khaleedah King, Miss Aliyah Edalere, Miss Firdaos Alabi, Miss Ololade Olasupo, and Miss Aisha Adebayo.
Store owner, Mrs. Adebayo, reaffirmed the bookstore’s commitment to literacy advocacy: “Every child deserves a storybook they can call their own—one that ignites a passion for learning and expands their knowledge. This is just the beginning. We look forward to reaching even more communities in the coming years.”
The campaign marks another milestone in Kiddies Arena’s ongoing mission to foster a strong reading culture among Nigerian children and ensure access to quality books.
