By: Motunrayo Aniwura
Nigerian actress Grace Bassey, formerly known as Belinda Effah, has officially enlisted in the United States Navy.
She transitioned from a successful acting career to military service after completing U.S. Navy boot camp, a milestone that also granted her American citizenship.
In a post on Instagram, Grace reflected on her journey, noting that although she was raised in Nigeria, living in America has pushed her to grow stronger and become more determined.
She shared photos and videos celebrating her new path and dedicated the achievement to her late father, Naval Commander Asido Bassey Effah.
The 35-year-old actress first appeared on Nigerian television in the 2005 series Shallow Waters. She later changed her name from Belinda Effah to Grace-Charis Bassey following a spiritual experience that deepened her faith in God.
