A Federal High Court in Lagos on Tuesday morning discharged and acquitted former Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, of all allegations in his protracted money laundering case initiated against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The court upheld Fayose’s no-case submission, thereby determining that the prosecution did not succeed in demonstrating a prima facie case against him to necessitate further defense.
Fayose had been undergoing trial on accusations related to money laundering and fraud during his administration as governor. Nevertheless, after years of judicial proceedings, the court concluded that the evidence provided by the EFCC was inadequate to uphold the charges.
