Oba Ewuare II explained that the fasting and prayers are part of the kingdom’s long-standing tradition of spiritual purification ahead of the annual new yam festival. He added that the period would be dedicated to seeking God Almighty and the royal ancestors’ intervention for peace, protection from sudden death, prosperity, and tranquillity in homes, the state, and the nation at large.

The monarch prayed for peace, happiness, and a fruitful harvest for all who participate in the exercise.
