LAGOS TRANSPORT COMMISSIONER INSPECTS JUNCTION IMPROVEMENT WORKS AT OPEBI, IKOTUN

Lagos, Nigeria — In a continued effort to ease traffic congestion and improve road connectivity across Lagos State, the Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, on Tuesday led a delegation from the Ministry of Transportation on an inspection tour of ongoing junction improvement projects at key traffic points in the state.

Accompaniedby the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Olawale Musa, the Director of Transport Engineering, Engr. Bolaji Bada, and the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Transportation, Hon. Toyin Aremu, the Commissioner inspected the ongoing works at Toyin, Adebola, and Salvation Junctions along Opebi Road.

Duringthe tour, the project team disclosed that the Opebi Junction Improvement Project has reached 45 percent completion. The initiative, spearheaded by the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, is designed to facilitate smoother vehicular movement from the Opebi Link Bridge to the Opebi corridor and its adjoining roads.
Speaking during the inspection, Osiyemi emphasized that the junction upgrades are part of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s broader transport infrastructure renewal drive aimed at minimizing traffic delays, reducing travel time, and improving overall road user experience in the metropolis.
He noted that the Opebi project, when completed, would significantly ease congestion, particularly for motorists navigating the busy Opebi–Allen corridor, while also enhancing safety for pedestrians and other road users.
The inspection team also visited Ikotun Junction, where preliminary work has begun for another junction improvement and the remodeling of surrounding inner roads. The goal, according to ministry officials, is to improve traffic flow, accessibility, and connectivity within the densely populated Ikotun area.

Osiyemireiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring that all traffic improvement and road rehabilitation projects are executed to standard and delivered within schedule, urging residents to cooperate with contractors and adhere to traffic management directives around ongoing construction zones.
The Commissioner commended the efforts of the project engineers and assured Lagosians that the state government will continue to implement strategic road and traffic management projects to enhance mobility and drive sustainable urban development.
