GOV LAWAL REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO EFFECTIVE POLICING IN ZAMFARA
Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting effective policing and improving the welfare of security personnel across the state.
The governor made this known when he received the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF), Mohammed F. Sheidu, at the Government House, Gusau, on Monday.
In a statement by his spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, Lawal said his government would continue to collaborate with the NPTF and other security agencies to strengthen law enforcement operations in Zamfara.
He expressed concern over the poor state of police infrastructure in the state and disclosed that his administration had begun renovating the Zamfara Police Command Headquarters while also constructing new structures at the Mobile Police Command.
“My administration is making a conscious effort to ensure the welfare of the police is guaranteed. That is why we are currently renovating the Zamfara Police Headquarters and constructing some structures at the Zamfara Mobile Command,” Lawal said.
He described the condition of existing police barracks as “quite unfortunate” and pledged to provide land for the Police Trust Fund to build a housing estate for officers.
In his remarks, the NPTF Executive Secretary, Sheidu, commended the governor for his consistent support for the police and efforts to improve their welfare and working environment.
The visit and renewed collaboration come amid ongoing security challenges in Zamfara, as the state government intensifies efforts to enhance the capacity of law enforcement agencies to tackle crime and ensure the safety of residents.
