Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has been ranked the fifth most creative player in the English Premier League this season, according to football statistics platform WhoScored.

Iwobi, who plays for Fulham, has created 23 goal-scoring chances so far this campaign, making him the club’s only representative in the Premier League’s top five for creativity.

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes currently tops the chart with 40 chances created, followed by Liverpool’s Dominik Szoboszlai with 28. Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice sits third on 27, while Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson is fourth with 25.

The 29-year-old Nigerian has recorded two goals and two assists in 15 league appearances this season and remains a key figure for Fulham under manager Marco Silva. Since joining the club from Everton for €25.7 million two years ago, Iwobi has steadily grown into one of the team’s leaders.

Last season marked his best campaign in the Premier League, where he contributed nine goals and six assists for the Cottagers.

Iwobi is also expected to be named in Nigeria’s final squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted by Morocco. The midfielder has earned 86 caps for the Super Eagles, scoring 10 goals and providing three assists.

In line with FIFA regulations, Fulham are expected to release Iwobi, alongside fellow Nigerians Calvin Bassey and Samuel Chukwueze, for national duty by Monday, December 15.

Nigeria have been drawn in Group C alongside Tunisia, Uganda and Tanzania. The Super Eagles’ training camp is set to open on Wednesday, December 10, in Egypt, with a friendly match against the host nation scheduled for December 16.

Nigeria will begin their AFCON campaign on December 23, 2025, against Tanzania in Fès, while Tunisia and Uganda clash the same day in Rabat. The group’s biggest fixture will follow on December 27 when Nigeria face Tunisia in Fès.

The final round of group matches will be played on December 31, with Nigeria taking on Uganda, while Tunisia meet Tanzania.

The Super Eagles, runners-up at the last AFCON after a 2–1 defeat to hosts Ivory Coast, will be aiming to secure a fourth continental title, having previously won the tournament in 1980, 1994 and 2013.
