The President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Gusau, has confirmed that there are currently no plans to offer Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle a contract extension following the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.

Chelle, who was appointed in January 2025, led the three-time African champions to a third-place finish after defeating Egypt to claim the Bronze medal.

Speaking to the media, Gusau described any discussions about extending Chelle’s contract as premature, noting that the coach is only midway through his existing two-year agreement.

“For now, there’ll be no contract extension discussion with Chelle,” Gusau said.
“We signed a two-year contract with him in January 2025, and he’s still only halfway through his term.”
