The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has urged residents of Igbooye and Odomola communities in Epe to utilise its toll-free helpline, 0-8000-333-333, for reporting cases of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV).

The agency made the appeal during community sensitisation programmes designed to educate residents on the various forms, consequences, and prevention of abuse, according to a statement shared on its official platform on Friday.

During the sessions, participants were informed about available support services and the need to report incidents promptly to enable swift intervention and safeguard survivors.

Traditional rulers and community leaders in attendance applauded the initiative and encouraged community members to speak out and take a stand against abuse.

The outreach activities underscored the Agency’s commitment to deepening grassroots partnerships and ensuring survivors have access to confidential, timely, and responsive support services.

According to the statement, six chiefs and about 80 community members attended the sessions, alongside officers of the Family Support Unit, including the Officer in Charge, who actively engaged with residents. Participants in both communities were repeatedly urged to report incidents promptly via the DSVA toll-free helpline, 0-8000-333-333, as part of efforts to strengthen community collaboration and promote shared responsibility in addressing SGBV at the grassroots level.

He applauded the Agency for taking the sensitisation campaign to the grassroots, noting that the session attracted over 50 participants. At Odomola, the engagement was facilitated by Ms. Adetoun Odunmbo, who educated participants on Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV), its effects, and available response mechanisms.

Although His Royal Majesty, Alayeiluwa Oba Engr. Sulaimon Adesina Adebowale Ilufemiloye, Akenren II, the Omola of Odomola, was unavoidably absent, he conveyed his appreciation to the DSVA for the initiative and its impact on the community.
