The national assembly has delayed starting the full meetings, which were originally planned for February 24, 2026.

Both houses stopped their main sessions for two weeks so that their committees could hold the 2026 budget review meetings for ministries, departments, and agencies, as well as governmentowned organizations.

In a notice issued on Monday, Kamoru Ogunlana, clerk to the national assembly, said the postponement is to enable committees conclude ongoing budget defence sessions.

“This postponement is to enable Committees of the Assembly to conclude ongoing budget defence sessions,” the notice reads.

“Plenary will now reconvene in both chambers on Thursday, 5th March 2026 at 11:00 a.m.

“Distinguished Senators and Honourable Members are kindly requested to take note of the new resumption date and time.

“The Leadership regrets any inconvenience the postponement may have caused.”
