Thierry Henry created a memorable moment on live television when he greeted Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen in Nigerian Pidgin English.

The exchange came after Galatasaray S.K.’s dramatic victory over Juventus F.C. in the UEFA Champions League knockout play-offs on Wednesday night.

Henry, serving as a pundit for CBS, interviewed Osimhen following Galatasaray’s 7–5 aggregate win, which secured their first progression to the Champions League second round in 12 years.

Osimhen scored a crucial goal in extra time to help the Turkish side seal qualification, after Galatasaray had already established dominance with a 5–2 first-leg win.

Despite a subpar performance in the second leg that allowed Juventus to score three goals and push the tie into extra time, Galatasaray ultimately scored twice in the additional period to confirm their advancement.

In the post-match interview, Henry surprised viewers by opening the conversation in Pidgin before offering his tactical analysis.

“Victor, this is Thierry. First and foremost, how bodi? Bodi dey?” Henry asked.

Amused by the gesture, Osimhen replied with a smile, “Yeah, bodi dey fine.”

The conversation then moved on to a discussion of the match itself.

During his Arsenal career from 1999 to 2004, Henry played alongside former Nwankwo Kanu, who later joined West Bromwich Albion F.C.. Henry has frequently praised both Kanu and Jay-Jay Okocha, whom he faced multiple times in the Premier League.

In 2017, Henry visited Lagos, where he was honored with the title “Igwe of Football.”
