KEBBI GOVERNMENT SETS UP PANEL TO INVESTIGATE THE DEATHS OF TWO CHILDREN AT ZURU HOSPITAL

The Kebbi State Government has set up a special committee to probe the deaths of two children at General Hospital, Zuru.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday by Yahaya Sarki, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Kebbi State Governor.
Governor Nasir Idris approved the committee to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident involving the two children, who were reportedly from the same family.
According to the statement, the committee is headed by the Commissioner for Information, Yakubu Ahmed, while the Commissioners for Health and Establishment, Sama’ila Augie and Manu Dogondaji, serve as members.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Zaki Abubakar Zaki, will act as the committee’s secretary.
The panel is tasked with probing both the immediate and underlying causes of the deaths, including claims that the children may have received a wrong injection.

It will also identify those linked to the incident, establish responsibility where necessary, and propose measures to prevent a recurrence.
The committee has been given one week to submit its report and has been instructed to begin work immediately.
